Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
Artie had mentioned that there would be some spiritual work, and that she could help. She was still talking to Charlie about it, but she wanted to get as much details as she could.
She went looking for the spiritually-minded kin in charge of all such things.

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
Hok'ee had just finished his ritual of cleansing one of the new guests. To do so meant to man the fire in the sweat lodge, which meant he had to momentarily be without a shirt, just pants as the cloth would be too close to the open flame. When Erin comes, he is wrapping up, putting his clothes back on and handing the young man back his belongings.
After he has parted, he turns to Erin.
"You wish to speak with me?" he kept it simple to the doctor he had worked with from time to time.
Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
She nodded "Yes if it is an ok time? Artie mentioned that there will be things that i could help with, spiritual and plant based? I was hoping you could give me more information, you know if there is ever anything i can help with i will"

Hok'ee nods slowly "Keeper of the land... is gone. I must listen to the land and find what they want and need.
There are no more theurges and the umbra brings death. I must open myself up to listen to the spirits. I can't do it alone, *I* must become *we*. This all I will say at the moot."

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
She nodded following along, sort of. "I do not have the connection to the umbra that some do, but what i can do, i will. Is there anything i can do before the moot? Anything that i would need to grow or prepare will take time as always but it is at your disposal"

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
He speaks, as always stilted as if he's always translating
"Attracting an animal spirit can be the same as attracting an animal. Do you know what baits a roadrunner or a rattlesnake? Does your magic not have other ways to lure?
Draw attention of the spirits. Show that we care for the land. Can your skill and magic not do this?"

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
She nodded "My skill can, i show the land my care in my tending of my greenhouses and herbs. Would it make sense..." she was thoughtful "would it make sense to do similar here? Charlie and i both grow things, well. Are there useful things we can be doing here on the sept proper to tend the land more?"
((i have literlaly no idea what attracts roadrunners other then coyotees nad acme boxes so... unsure there))

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
((OOC: I was referencing your the herbalism ability
"Know the spirits powerful here, Peyote, Rattlesnake, Roadrunner, Panther, Badger...
Yes, it would make sense to grow peyote or cactus if you want to gain the favor of their spirits."
))attract or deter insects or animals

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
She nodded "I have some variants of cactus growing..." she nodded softly "Peyote yes." she nodded "Hmm... and yes i can make something that will attract animals...."
(oh duh!))

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
"To commune with the desert is to tax and exhaust your body to the brink of death." he turns to Erin to make eye contact where before he was staring off into the distance of the arid mountain "In the lodge your body sweats from the heat and you become closer to the spirit world. We will need to do a lot more than just sweat. We need deep conversations." he leaves unspoken that a doctor and herbalist would be useful for what comes after exhaustion and dehydration.
Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
She nodded "I will get with Charlie and we will make sure to have what will be needed for after" she is making mental notes as she talks, his gaze holds hers, as much as she usually avoids that sort of thing

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
Still not breaking the intense gaze as he speaks "Spirit heritage. As I will say this moot. An easy way to draw a spirit is to look like them." not that they would know how others look in the umbra. Umbral travel was nearly suicidal right now.
Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
She blinked but did not look away "Hmmm.... there is a new girl, Sandy found her in the desert with a concussion and no memory. Seems to have some sort of deep connection to fox things... i wonder"

"It could be an eye opening experience for her, but.... Is she ready?" he asks evenly
Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
"Likely not. But i almost wonder if she is tied to them in a spiritual way. It was a bit uncanny"

He takes in a deep breath and tilts his head in contemplation
"Then I would like to see her. Either as part of this mission or for it's own purpose."

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
"Is there anyone else who you would recommend?" he was content to see who would answer his call at the moot. A breeze finally hits and his head turns to meet it and feel which way it blows, closing his eyes and letting his mind drift while still in idle conversation.
Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
"Not anyone else i know." she said then made a little hum noise "Maybe the bird kin. He has knowledge of spirits at any rate"

Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
"The Korean Corax? They might make a strong addition, they seemed to at least have a unique perspective and a thirst for knowledge." he muses over the possibility should Si-Won be willing.
Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
"You can ask them." he says absently "Hopefully they are not too fragile. Or perhaps they will have to avoid those trials. If we have the right tools, we may not need to put our bodies at as much risk."
Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
She nodded "I'll ask. And if the trials are not needed then not needed but if they are... I'll do everything to help"

"The more that see this through all the way, including the trails, the more our chance for success. The more pieces to the puzzle we will have."
Re: Matters of Spirit (Ho'kee)
She nodded. this was his thing, he knew all about it
